SUPREME COURT.
WELLINGTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. In the Supreme Court, before the Chief Justice, Charles Buckland, for breaking and entering and theft at Eltham, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment in Invercnrgill Gaol; Harry Neil, with a number of aliases, who pleaded guilty to the theft of a valuable greyhound at Waverley, wan remanded for a week for a police report; To Boro Takaiwa, who admitted a charge of. breaking and entering at Moturoa, was remanded for a week, as the police report had not arrived; Olaf Aancnsen, a Norwegian, pleaded guilty to escaping from lawful custody. Prisoner was a 1)1 em her of the crew of the German ship Martha Boekhahu, which he deserted at Westport. He was subsequently arrested, and later walked out of the police yard. Prisoner made* serious charges against the officers ot the ship, alleging the general ill-treat-ment of the crew. He declared he would not go on board again, as ho knew what he would get. While at Westport he had"l>con kept in irons foe three days and nights in a pigstye. strung up bv the heels and left hanging until his face was black. He woulrt rather do six months in gaol than go back. The Judge ordered that Aancnsen be confined in gaol for five weeks. Counsel for the Crown, at His Honor's suggestion, said lie would communicate with the German and Norwegian consuls.
