THE SPORTS GROUND. The question of how many teams would use the Sports Ground for "home" matches, and how the payment of thb £2O guaranteed by the association to tbe Sports Ground would be divided among the clubs, was discussed. It was found that the Sports Ground would bt used for such a purpose by only four teams, viz., New Plymouth senior Thursday, New Plymouth Saturday, Carrington Road and Athletic. Six practice wickets would be required, bringing in £O, and thus leaving £l4. to be paid b> the four teams using it for "home' matches. ' Mr. Williams'moved: "That in consideration of the clubs using' the Sports Ground having to maintain the match and practice wickets this season, the Association pay the sum of £5 toward the upkeep -of the ground, the aforesaid clubs to guarantee to provide both practice and match wickets for any representative matches they may be required for." Seconded by Mr. Averj and carried. It was decided to pay the ,£o immediately to the Sports Ground,; The payment of the remaining £ls was allocated as follows:—New, Plymouth Club (match and practice wickets for two teams), £5; Carrington Road. CIul) (match and practice wickets), £3; Athletic Club (match and practice wickets), £3; United Service Club (practice wicket), £1; Law Club (practice wicket), £1; the remaining £2 to be derived from the ground and. admission charges for "scratch" matches. The clubs all'eeted had agreed to these charges. In accordance with notice of '.motion, Mr. Turnbull moved—(l) "That Rule 3 of the Association's rules be: altered as follows: 'The words 'championship committee' be deleted and the words 'a Thursday championship committee and a Saturday championship committee 'be inserted in lieu thereof. And that the following clause be added to the same rule: 'The Thursday championship committee shall have full power to manage and - control - the Thursday competitions, and the Saturday championship committee shall have full power to manage and cont/rol the Saturday competition, but clubs shall have the right to appeal to the association from rulings or decisions of either of these committees.'" (2)' "That Rule 2 (e) of the Association's-rules be'altered so that sub-section 2 thereof shall read: 'Two delegates from each Thursday senior team, one delegate from each Thursday junior team, and two delegates from each Saturday team.'" These were carried. The Saturday eliampionship committee, it was decided, should consist of three members, Messrs. F. Thomson (Inglewood), Turnbull (Law), and Williams (New Plymouth). A notice of motion by the Carrington Road ■ Club that the Saturday teams I pay the same subscription as Thursday senior team, namely, £1 Is, instead of 10s (id, as formerly, was also agreed to.
MISCELLANEOUS. A telegram was received from the hou.-secretary to the Wanganui Cricket Association, asking the association to play a match at Wanganui on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.—The proposal was agreed to, provided that there is no likelihood of a proposal made by the Manawatu Association last year, that a cricket week, with matches between North Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu and Wairarapa, be played at Palmerston North this season, coming to fruition. The secretary to the Wairarapa Cricket Association wrote: -'We have instructed our delegate to move at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council, to be held on the 27th. ins.t., • That two series of North v. South Island matches be played annually; the first to be between teams picked from country associations only, and the second, to be played later in the season, to be representative of the two islands. Players in the first match acquitting themselves well to be given a chance of playing in the second match.' 1 am directed to ask the support ol I your Association to thia motion, and, should you be in favor of it, to in- | struct your delegate to vote for the motion and to push it for all- it is I worth."—lt was decided to instruct tin. I Association's delegate to support the proposal. , \ It being considered that the Aisocn),tioii's rides were out-of-date and confused, it was decided, on Mr. Avery'si motion, that the secretary be instructed to obtain from the Auckland and Wei-, ling lon Cricket Associations copes of their rules, and that a committee b« set up to thoroughly revise the rules ;iml draft any others that may be considered necessary, copies of the revised rules to be sent out to all affiliated elubs for their consideration, such rules to come into force next season.
