NEWTON KINO'S WEEKLY REPOHT. At the llaymarkct oil Saturday a good number (if pigs were penned and prices were slightly in advance of those of the previous week. Weaners made 7s (id to lis lid. small stores lis to 14s, stores I lis to IDs, porkers 25s to 20s, baeoners 355. Young mare sold for £11). At Douglas on Monday there was a full yarding, with good enquiry, and nearly everything sold at full market rates. Mixed yearlings (small) made I'2 Is, yearling steers £2 H)s, yearling heifers/£2 13s (id to £2 18s rid, empty heifers' £3 13s to £4 2s, store cows £3 7s to £3 18s fid. forward do. .14 7s to C 4 15s. s[iringing tows £(i to L!) 10s, springing heifers (small) £4 7s lid to C 5 12s (id. working bullocks 014 to £l7 5s per pair, do. (poor condition) C 7 15s to £ll Kjs, nulls £3 to £■(> l.">s. hoggets l'3s 4xl. At U remit on the same day there was a small yardinir. Empty heifers made £3 ISs to £4 4s, store cows £3 13s to £4 2s (id. forward do. £4 8s to £4 Ids. fat do. £3 16s Od to £(i 14s, springing cows £4 10s to £7 'l2s (3d, springing heifers £4 10s to £() (>s, 2-vear steers £4 4s (id, bulls £3 4s to £5 10s. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a good yarding of store cattle, most lines changing hands at the following prices: Yearling steers £2 6s 6d to £3, yearling "heifers £2 15s to £3 3s, mixed yearlings (good) £3 ss, yearling heifers (Uolstein and Jersey strain) £3 His to £3 ISs, yearling to 18-niontlis do. £5 empty heifers £3 13s to €4 Is, store cows £2 15s to £4, forward do. £4 I2s to £5 3s, 2-year steers £3 18s Od. A line of 215 2 to 2'/o-year steers made C 4, 10s, 3-year bullocks £5 17s. On the same day there was a good yarding of springing heifers and dairy cows. Heifers (close up) made £0 IDs to £8 15s, later do. £4 'lss to £6, dairy cows (close up) £7 to £lO 10s, later do. up to £5 2s fid. At Stony River on Wednesday there was a full yarding, with a good attendance! of buyers. Bidding was brisk throughout and good prices were realised. MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report a fair yarding of cattle at their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Kidding was keen and previous prices were well maintained for all classes, being as follows: Springing heifers £3 Us to £5 ss, good do. £6 12s (id to £9, heifers (calved) £3 Ss to £3 10s, bulls £4 to £8 2s (Id, store cows £3 6s to £3 14s (id, empty heifers £3 10s to £4 10s, springing cow's £3 15s to £5, good do. £5 12s (kl to £7 20-iiiouths steers £4 Bs, yearling do. £2 ISs to £3 4s, do. heifers £2 I<* to £3.
OUTSIDE MARKETS. ADDINOTON. At the Additigton saleyards there was a fairly large yarding of stock, and a good attendance. Fat cattle were firmer, and store sheep also showed an improvement, but fat lambs were down 2s to 2s (id per head in consequence of a large entry. Fat sheep showed practically no change in values, but pigs met with a good demand for all classes. There were only 1200 store sheep yarded, about onehalf being hoggets. For these there was an improved demand, and prices firmed about (id per head. Woolly wethers made 17s 4d to 17s Lid, shorn wethers Ids fid to Ms 9d, hoggets (mixed sexes) 14s 3d, wether hoggets 13s 6:1 to 14s, ewe hoggets to 16s 2d, ewes and lambs 8s 6d to 9s 4d. Best lambs made 13s 6d to 16s 9d, lighter 10s fid to 13s.
Fat sheep—The range of prices was; Prime wethers 20s to 26s 6d, lighter 16s to 19s (id, shorn wethers Pis (id to 18s Ud, prime ewes 17s (id to 22s 3d. others 15s ■sd to 17s, shorn ewes lis (id to 15s, hoggets 10s 4d to 18s 2d, prime merino we'thers 15s to 10s 7d, others 14s 6d. Fat cattle—Steers made £5 15s to £lll, extra to £l4 ss, heifers £5 ss. to £lO, extra to £l2, cows £5 5s to £8 10s, extra to £9 (equal to 28s to 34s for prime handy-weights, 25s to 27s Od for medium, and 20s to 24s (id for inferior per 4001b). Store cattle—Yearlings made to 31s, l'S to 20-months sorts £2 17s 6d, 2-year heifers £3 ss, 3-year steers £6* ss, 3-year heifers £4 10s, dry cows £ 1 10s to £4. Dairy cows made" £3 10s to £B, extra to £lO.
Pigs—Choppers sold up to £3 10s, weaners'3ls to 58s (equal to 4'/,d lb)', I porkers 27s to 38s (equal to 4 1 / 2 d p~er lb)'' large stores 20s to 245, medium 14s to l'Js, weaners 5s to lis. BURNSIDE. Fat cattle—437 yarded, a few pens being of first-class quality, and the balance from medium to good. Well-finish-ed sorts sold up to last week's rates, but medium were a shade easier. Best bullocks made up to £U7 ss, good £l2 10s to £l4 l«s, medium £9 to £ll 10s, best heifers £ll 10s to £'l2 ss, medium £7 to £9 10s. Fat sheep—24s2 penned, the bulk consisting of really prime wethers, with a sprinkling of good well-finished ewes. It is doubtful if the yarding lias been equalled this season for all-round qualilv. Prime wethers 26s to 28s 6d, good 22s to 245, medium 20s to 21s (kl, best ewes 23s to 265, good 21s to 22s Od. j Pigs—2lo penned. This was a large yarding, and, consequently, there was i only a dull sale.
WANGANUI. Messrs Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report: At our Wanganui sale we yarded 850 sheep and 200 cattle. Fat sheep were * ewhat quieter of sale than of late, but all other classes were in good demand. Cattle were well competed for, the demand for good young steers being particularly keen. We quote: Fat ewes 17s (id, 18s lOd to 20s; full-mouth ewes (with 100 Jambs) 15s, 10s 4d, 18s to His sd; cull hoggets (is lid; store ewes 12« 2d. 12s (ill, to 13s; 2-year steers £4 9.s 6d to £ I 10s, 18-months do. £3 lis, yearling do. £3 5s Od, weaner do. £2 ss, Polled Angus cross yearling heifers £3 His. 20-months dairy-bred heifers £3 17s lid. -Hire cows £.'{ I Is. 2-vear Jersev bull C!l Ills, yearling grade'do. £4 His, yenrliny: bulls C 3 15s, £4 to £4 Ids aged bulls to £;; 1.-,s.
