CHEAPER PROCESS OF EXTRACTION DISCOVERED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 19. The Evening Standard states that the discovery of Cornish pitchblende gives a regular supply of radium, and will cause a great fall in prices. Received 20, 10 p.m. London, October 20. I

Sir William Ramsay (the eminent authority on radio-active minerals) confirms the Evening Standard's statement regarding radium. The Cornish pitchblende deposits give assurance of a continuous supply of at least 500 millegrams —(a millegram is a thousandth part of a gramme)—monthly for years. He adds that the present world's supply does not exceed live grammes. The process of extraction occupies a couple of months. Hitherto a couple of years were required.
