Mr. Hertzog, Minister for Education, at a political meeting, declared the education law was not in accordance with article 137 of the Constitution. The campaign against compulsory teaching of the Dutch language was narrow-minded. The speech is regarded as a counterWast to the success of the separate schools movement.
