THE WEATHER.

| SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Nieht. Following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast:—There has been a slight decrease in the barometric pressure to-day, but it is still high everywhere. The weather has been fine in the north and cloudy elsewhere, •with considerable rain on the west coast, of the South Island. Westerly winds have prevailed, with moderating force. Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, backing to northerly. The barometer will probably fall slowly everywhere, and there are prospects of fair weather northward of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, but unsettled and cloudy weather at times elsewhere, rain probably following and continuing on the west coast.
