A NEW INDUSTRY.
INAUGURATED AT HASTINGS. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The formal opening of the leather and rubber works took place to-day. A large number of visitors from all parts of the Dominion were present. The total cost of establishing the industry exceeds £32,000, the patent rights being £20,000. The balance will be devoted to the purchase of machinery, 'land and buildings. The massive machinery was set in motion, and everything worked smoothly. The principal lines of manufacture are door tiles, linoleums, retread motoi tyres, vehicle, bicycle nad pram tyres, and boot heels and soles.
