STRATFORD DAY BY DAY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Saturday. At the Anglican Church to-day *Mr. "Duke" Hunter, of the staff of ,the Whangamomona branch of the Bank of Australasia, was married to Miss Law, daughter of Mr. J. K. Law, of Aramoho, and who for many years was headmaster of the Manaia School. Mr. G. Hunter was best man, and Miss May Hunter bridesmaid. The newly-married couple left for New Plymouth, where the honeymoon will be spent. The mats.li between the Stratford and Eltham Rifle clubs, fired on Thursday, was won by the latter by 14 points. The Cardiff Dairy Company has donated a special prize of five guineas to the Stratford A. and P. Association for the best pen of three two-year-old grade dairy heifers. It is reported that a considerable amount of poaching is going on in the rivers in this district, and the Acclimatisation Society intend offering a reward for the detection of the offenders. Mr. F. J. Hcatley, of the staff of the local school, received word yesterday of the death of his father. The news came as a great shock, as the deceased was apparently in the very best of health. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a cricket club in Stratford is being Jield on Wednesday night. Mr. S. G. Potter has disposed of his grocery and butchery business.
