DROWNED IN A BATH. By Telegffapib.—[Press Association. Wellington, Friday. Ernest Hardwicke, 40 years of age, employed at the Commercial Hotel as a waiter, stated his intention of having a bath last night, and was found dyad in the bath this morning. The body was fully clad. Wellington, Last Night. At the inquest on Ernest Hardwicke, found dead in a bath, Dr. Kyngston Fyffe expressed the opinion that the deceased had been overcome by a fainting fit while in the bath. A verdict of "accidental drowning" was returned.

MINER SMASHED TO PIECES. Waihi, Last Night. 'Matthew Berryman, a miner engaged in the Waihi mine, was literally smashed to pieces this afternoon by falling out of a cage at No. 2' shaft. The unfortunate man had previously cut his hand badly in working, and, it is assumed, when the cage had nearly reached fiu surface he fainted and fell off the cage and was precipitated to the bottom of the shaft, a distance of over 900 feer. Deceased was 25 years of age and unmarried.
