Mr. W. Humphries, who was seriously injured in a street accident a week agO„ is making good progress at the hospital. A London cable states that the Dukeof Teck (brother of the Queen), whohad been seriously ill, is now convalescent. Dr. J. E. Bennett, formerly of NewPlymouth, and now of Blenheim, has had: the misfortune to seriously poison oneof his anus. Mr. G. Ileston, father of Mr. Fred.. Reston, of New Plymouth, died at Auckland on Thursday, and Mr. F. Reston. went north that night. Mr. Fred Stevens, well known to Theatre patrons and to the profession generally, who has been indisposed for sometime, was successfully operated upon, yesterday at the local hospital. At a meeting of the congregation of." the First Church at Dunedin last night it was unanimously decided to invite the Rev. Graham *H. Balfour, M.A.. 8.D., formerly of Victoria, to becomeminister of the church in succession to the late Dr. Nisbet —Press wire.
