I LONDON MARKETS. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. London, October 12. At the tallow sales 407 casks were offered and 325 sold. Prices were unchanged. English and Scotch steelmakers have advanced prices 5s per ton. Silver is quoted at So'/id. The visible American supply of wheat is 02,340,001} bushels. FROZEN -MEAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, Thursday. The C.C. and D. Company cable the following report on the frozen meat trade:—Prices for mutton and lamb are unchanged; beef is slightly lower. Today's prices are: Canterbury mutton 4%d, Napier, Wellington and North Island 3%' d; lamb, first quality 5%d, second quality s'/ 8 d; beef, hindquarters 3%, forequarters 2%d. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—Our poultry pens on Saturday last were overcrowded, many temporary pens having to be brought into requisition to meet the large entry. Some splendid poultry of all classes was penned, and prices*for good quality stuff was fully maintained. It is expected that prices will remain firm well on to Christmas. Prices: Chicks, 3d to 7d, ducklings I'M to l's 4d, forward ducklings 2s lid, ducks is 4d to 2s l>i)d, fat do. 3s, p.b. Muscovies 8s Gd to 9s for trios, liens (old) 2s to 2s 4d, good young do. 2s !)d to 3s, fat hens 2s 8d to 3s, silver Wyandotte pullets 3s to 4s 2d, trio p.b. brown Leghorns 8s Od to IDs, five pens p.b. black Orpington and white Leghorn cockerels (well-grown) 3s, 3s 2d, 3s 4d to 3s Ikl each, p.b. black Minorca cockerel 5s 3d, ibantams Is Gd. Fruit.—This has 'been in short supply. A fi\v Nelson Stunners realised Ids 6d to lis Od for prime, 8s to !)d for seconds; oranges (re-packed) 10s Od to 17s Gd, bananas 3d to lb, asparagus 5d bundle, cabbages (poor) 3s to 4s sack, lettuces 2s Od case. A new shipment of Tongan bananas and -<tlie first lot of Californian apples are due on Thursday. Prices are expected to b» high. Oakura Yards.—We held our usual fortnightly sale at our yards on Friday. There w-as a good entry, and, with one exception, every line was cleared at the hammer.
