CELEBRATIONS IN AUCKLAND. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Labor Dav was observed a* a elo*c ■holiday throughout the city, but the moraine celebrations were mnrrcd bv rain. The weather cleared in the afternoon and lar.<?e numbers turned out to the sports. The procession was over a mile Ion? and was viewed bv big crowds. The principal events at. the sports resulted as follows:—Trades Union Handicap: W. H. Ilogsted I. F. .T. Randal -2. A. C. Yellaur 3: time, 11 4-osee. Half-mile Open Handicap: R. A\. Cox 1. -I. McManus 2, €. 'S. Fal'kner 3. Time. 2?. sec. Last- Niirht. The inaugural Labor Day gathering here was a great success, thouirh the weather was disappointing in the afternoon. The Labor Day Handicap was won by Trembath. Of three distance? he won two. t
