The union resolved to commend to the churches the resolution of the Missionary Conference held in Edinburgh urging all the churches in Greater Britain to call public attention to the shame of the Indian Government's opium monopoly and continued insistence on the rights of the scandalous treaty of Tientsin. MANAWATU SHOW GROUND. Palmerston North, Last Night.' The general committee of Manawatu A. and P. Association rejected a proposal to purchase new show grounds and to sell the present 'ground. ADVANCES TO LOCAL BODIES. Wellington, Yesterday. At a meeting of the State Guaranteed Advances Board loans to local bodies to the amount of £182,700 were approved.
