California, Oiyoi and Polymorphous are quoted at a point longer odds. Kotare ran promisingly enough at Wato induce Mr. Matthews to try hfs luck at Otaki. The Taranaki hurdler has been a consistent performer this spring and it is about time he paid a dividend. Jockey W. Young will probably have the mount on Howler at Otaki. iMerry Frank was a treble winner at Blenheim and Glenspring got away with a double. _ Rangihaeta ran well forward at Hastings last week and is reported to be improving with every gallop. Goldsley, a Maiden candidate at Otaki, is said to be a promising sort. Master Sylvia is engaged in the Stewards' Hack Handicap with 8.3 against his name, and it goes without saying that the locally-trained horse will carry a lot of bullion.
The Native recently proved his versatility by winning both a hurdle and a flat "race at Bulls, and he won again over the sticks at Wanganui. His next start will be in the Welter Handicap at Otaki. Waitapu has been awarded 6.13 in the City Handicap, 1% miles, to be run at the A.R.C. spring meeting. '""'* ~ The uncertainty of hurdle I|||fe,#Hf once again shown last week wfifn*tha't good fencer Pikopo came to grief at Hastings. Pikopo was a six-year-old gelding by San FranYoung Mira, and carried Mr. W. J. Douglas' colors. Mallet, who has been running well to the front lately, will be amongst the runners at Otaki.
