Tie Federal force aiding, enabled the Opposition to overthrow Colonel Bettencourt, the Governor of the State of Amazonas, Brazil. The Federal flotilla, at the instance of the Opposition, bombarded Manaos. The firing ceased at the instance of the Consuls and the leading townspeople. President Pecanha ordered the usurpers to reinstate Colonel Bettencount to the Governorship.
