Mr. Day, the local stationmaster, is away on leave, and Mr. Cooper is actingin his absence. A London cable Teports that Prince Francis of Teck, brother of the Queen; is seriously ill of pleurisy at Balmoral. During her recently visit to Rome Mrs. M. Rolleston, of Wellington, had the honor of being received in audience by his Holiness Pope Pius X. Mr. T. C. Schnackenberg, who hasbeen local manager for Messrs. L. D. Nathan and Co. for some few years past,, has received notice of transfer to Auckland. At Hawera on Monday afternoon, Mr. H. W. Sutton, on the eve of his departure from Hawera, where he has lived and worked for the past 18 years, was presented with a citizens' illuminated address. The Rev. A. C. La-wry, who has served his appointed terms of five years as minister of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, Napier, has received a unanimous invitation to succeed the Rev. G. Bond in the ministry of St. John's Church, Ponsonby, Auckland, and has accepted the invitation provided the transfer is sanctioned by the church conference, which meets next March. If the appointment is sanctioned Mr. Lawry expects to take the charge in April. The Rev. Frank C. Lang, ILA., ol Feilding, leaves for India at the end of the month to take up missionary work. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lang, of Wellington, have also decided to enter the mission field, and are to leave for Hyderabad (India) by the Otway inDecember. Dr. Pettit, who recently delivered a series of addresses in Wellington, and the Rev. and Mrs. Takle leave Dunedin on October 1(5 on their return to India.
