SIR. HUGHES' STATEMENTS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Sydney, October 10. iMr. Hughes, Federal Attorney-General, states that there is absolutely no foundation for the report of a split in the Federal Labor Government. Mr. Hughes declares that there will be no delay in proclaiming the Federal capital. The departments have been unable to study the whole of the Xew South Wales statutes in order to see which are applicable and what new laws are necessary.
CURTAILING THE POWERS OF THE STATES, Sydney, October lfl. Mr. Wade, New South Wales Stat? Premier, says that the proposed amendments to the Constitution will wipe out the power of the States with regard to industrial and commercial questions.
