Grevmouth, Friday.—Arrived, at 9.30 •_m., Kittawa, rom. New Plymouth. THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond arrived about noon yesterday from Wellington and Nelson, with 330 tons of general cargo. She left in ttie evening for Onehunga, from which port she proceeds direct to Wellington. VESSELS BUILDING FOR NEW ZEALAND TRADE. Shipbuilding activity, of an order to interest New Zealanders, is mentioned by the Wellington Post's London correspondent. The Union Company is inviting tenders for the construction of a cargo steamer to carry under 3000 tons deadweight. Tenders are to be in by the end of this month. Fairplay states:—"On behalf of the Maoriland Steamship Co., Ltd., of Wellington, the Union Steamship Company contracted with the Campbelltown Shipbuilding Co. for the construction of a steamer to carry about 2200 tops dead-weight. She will be 238 ft over all, 35ft llfa beam, and lift Bin moulded depth, and will cost between £17,000 and £18,000." The latest addition to tile Infra fleet is the twin-screw steamer Indrabarah, which may be expected to put in an appearance in New Zealand before long. She registered l 4y 2 knots on her trials on the Tyne. The New Zealand Shipping Co. is inviting tenders for the construction of a passenger steamer and for a cargo steamer for the New Zealand trade. Messrs Huddart, Parker and Co. are also said to be in the market for a steamer.
