The Presbyterian General Assembly discussed and adopted the committee's report on the progress of the movement towards the union of churches. The ri port showed that, as far as the Methodist and Congregational churches were concerned, the outlook for union was hopeful, hut the negotiations with the Church of England were at a standstill pending certain decisions of the Anglican (iejiera! Synod.
