THE OLD MEN'S HOME.
To the Editor. Sir,—The r-esi;nt OP People's Home was erected' some seven or eight years ago on a site obtained for the purpose from the School Commissioners. The then Board gave the matter mature consideration and I have no doubt took counsel of Dr. Leatham. the Medical' Superintendent. The position has a great deal to recommend it apart from the beauty of its surroundings. Trained assistance is easily available in case of necessity; the Board's executive officers can readily be summoned, while many of our fellowcitizens have founl the Home not too distant to nermi f . therr to while awa" an hour with the aged inmates. Now it is reported that the Board have resolved to purchase 3>2 acres at £3;) per acre at Wostown, nnd to call for tenders for the removal of the buildings, with Drs. Valintine's ad Leatham's approval. Mr. Editor, can you give the public (who find the money which the Board proposes to spend in this manner) reasons for the change? So far as I am aware none have 'been published, but surely we are entitled to be informed.—l am, etc., RATEPAYER.
