LOCAL BODIES' DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Las,t Night. Regarding the dispute between the Hospital Board and the Lyttelton Borough Council, it is explained that the valuation supplied to the Board included the wharves, dock and other property not subject to borough rates. The Board's difficulty is that, if reduced, Lyttelton's contribution would involve an increase of contributions from other local bodies and readjustment of the scale generally. THE DEFENCE SCHEME.. Dunedin, Last Night. At a meeting of the committee of the Chamber of Commerce to-day a motion was adopted .expressing hearty approval of the progress made by the Government with reference to the defence proposals, and trusting that Lord Kitchener's recommendations would be adhered to as closely as possible. Also expressing gratification at the retention of the age limit of 25 years, notwithstanding that it does not come into force immediately.
