WILSON'S WALKING RECORD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Assiiation met this evening, Mr. A. Marryat presiding. A lengthy communication was received from Auckland, stating that it desired to appeal against the decision of the Council in refusing to grant a record to D. Wilson for his three-mile walk against Kerr at Auckland last season. It was pointed out that the Council had not refused to grant the record, but had refused to consider it, on the ground that it had not been applied for within sixty days. Mr. Thompson moved that the appeal be forwarded as requested.
The chairman said that, n his opinion, it was out of order, because an ap peal to the Australasian Union could not lie, in the case of refusal to con sider the application for a New Zealand record. iA New Zealand record was gianted by the Council of the Dominion only, and that being ?o no other body could say whether it should grant the record or .not. He was not opposed to the opinion being askei but was op pos'ed to the Zealand Association giving up its privileges to an outside
body. The motion was out of order. Mr. Thompson moved, "That this meeting disagrees with the chairman's ruling, and that he do leave the chair." This was carried liv three votes to two, and Mr. J. H. Pollock took the chair. The original motion was moved again. The chainrau' moved that it was ait of order, hit ihia'l} accepted it.
Mr. Mxiryatt movtd, as an amendment, "That thi? appoal be forwarded to the Austra <ibtan I nion for definition as to the mer.t? of Vh<' cake"
