The Corinna arrived from south on Saturday with 809 tons of general cargo. After discharging operations are completed to-day she will leave for Wellington, taking "away 8800 boxes of butter and 550 packages of cheese. A NEW STEAMER. The Union Company have bought the, steamer Hopeful, built this year by W. Parker and 'Son, Middlesborough, and she is to leave Home immediately for New Zealand (says the Dunedin Star). The new vessel is a steel screw steamer of | 1150 tons dead weight, classed 100 Al, has engines aft, and a speed of about 10V 2 knots. The special feature about iher is her suitability for working when Mly loadted ports that have 'but little depth of water. In conformity with the company's policy the new steamer will be given a Maori name, the one chosen on this occasion being Kowhai. The Kowhai is for cargo only.
