Thomas, M.P., states that during the strike the Employers" Association pays itihe Cambrian combine an indemnity exceeding? the profits, while the miners' strike pay is 15s instead of earnings, which average 36s to 40s per week. LARGE NUMBERS IDLE. Received 2, 5.5 p.m. London, October 2. South Wales colliers to the number of 8000 were idle yesterday. The notices from 12,590 expire to-day and 9000 Cambrions tendered notice yesterday. Much of the trouble is due to the non-unionist difficulty. A WORKERS' COMBINE. London, September 30. A conlerence of unions in the metal and foundry industries, representing 35 per cent, of the men, dlecided to amalgamate. THE COTTON OPERATIVES. 160,000 LOCKED OUT. Received 2, 5.5 p.m. London, October 2. Despite Mr. Asquith's arranging a conference between tine cotton employers and employees yesterday the meeting was fruitless, causing a lockout of 150,000 operatives at 700 mills. BOILERMAKERS' STRIKE LOAN. Received 2, 5.5 p.m. London, October 2. The iboilennakers are agitating for a large strike loan to conduct a strike in the event of the next conference being abortive. SYDNEY SLAUGHTERMEN. Received October 3, 1 a.m. Sydney, October 3. A meetjng of slaughtermen, in view of the Wages Board deciding against piecework, have instructed the Executive to endeavour to bring about a resumption of work, pending the decision of the Board regarding details.
