Need ha in, also ofi the Hastings office, is to be moved td Inglewood. j An Ottawa cable states that Hjie Canadian Finance Minister (Hon. William S. Fielding) is 'ill from facial paralysis. Also that Sir 'Frederick Borden, Minister for Militia, may retire from the Laurier Cabinet, in order to ibecome .LieutenantGovernor of Nova 'Scoitia. The Bev. D. Gordon, who has ministere'd to the people of Mar ton lor 0) period of over 25. years, is about to retire from active duties. The Wanganui Presbytery have decided to a»k the Assembly to give them the necessary power eo that Mr. Gordon may stilt retain his ministerial status aijd be admitted to the benefits of the : Aged Ministers' Fund. A Nelson Press Association message says that the death occurred at Richmond on Thursday of Mrs. James Bell, ft 'very old colonist, at the age of 86 years. She arrived by the Philip Lang, the first vessel to arrive at the Otago settlement, being one of the first Free Church settlers in that province. Shortly afterwards she married and went to ■flifi Nelson district where she has resided since. Mrs. Ewcin, wife of Rev. T. Keith Ewen, pastor of the Baptist Church, Brooklyn, Wellington, died yesterday, at) the age of 52. The deceased lady Was a native of Montrose, Scotland, where she conducted a ragged children's school. She left Montrose, for Australia in 1882 and for some years took am active part in social and rescue work and on many occasions occupied prominent pulpits in the Commonwealth.—Press wire.
