(Prom Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last/Night. One of the pioneer settlers of Strat ford, in the person of Mr. John Irviae. passed away to-day. Deceased, who Wat 60 years of age, Das only been ill for si couple of days,, and the news of hit. death came as, a. great and sad surprise to his large circle of friends. For g* years he fi'led the position of Sunday School superintendent at St. Andrew* Presbyterian Church, and was a pronj£ nent member of the local M««"nh Lodge. He leaves a widow, two son* and three daughters to mourn their toss*' Outstanding rates is as rule a good financial baiameter by which to test the commercial stability of a town. It is therefore a good sign for Stratford that so far this year double the aanoona of rates Has been collected to that, paid during t&e corresponding period of. lass year. The H«rtieultur«l Society's BiriU Show is being- held to-day. There b a wry fine collection of blooms, and' expert! state. üßftt they are above the average.
