A DELICIOUS OAKE RECIPE EOR AFTERNOON TEA. Pound Cake.—Rub one pound of butter and one pound of powdered sugar to a smootih cream; beat the whites and yolks of 12 efgs separately until they are very light; add the yolks to tho cream, and when they are blended stir in the wihitcs; sift the flour, and add it little by little until all has been added and the mixture is well blended. Urate the rind of one lemon, and add it to the juice, strain it through a fine sieve, and star into the cake; beat very vigorously until perfectly smooth and very light, for at least (half an hour; tfyen pour into buttered pans lined with buttered' paper, and ibafce thoroughly in a moderate oven. This is really a delicious cake for afternoon teas, and if served with "Dragon" brand tea, the pleasure of the afternoon function is greatly enhanced. The "Dragon" brand tea costs 2s 8d per lb, and is in a class by itself. It possesses an exquisite flavor; it is a robust tea of full body and great strength, while the texture is very fine. For those who like really high-grade tea, and do not mind the expense, the "Dragon" brand is strongly recommended. All the leading storekeepers of the district sell this brand of tea. ,"New Crescent" tea, at 2s per lb, is another excellent brand.—Advt.
