.ONE THOUSAND POUNDS. By Telegraph.—Pres? Association. Auckland, September 26. Sir John Logan Campbell lias donated a thousand pounds to the Children's Home, Richmond road, to enable enlargement of the building. He made it a condition that the public of Auckland contribute another thousand, but is so confident of this eventuating that he has handed his cheque to the trustees. The donor, who is now in his ninetythird year, has, during his residence in Auckland, given generously to worthy objects. He established and maintained the Auckland Free School from 1877 to 1880, and, besides other gift®, presented Cornwall Park, of 300 acres, to the people of Auckland.
