WOMAN'S WORLD.

A HAWERA LETTER. The Opera House was packed on Thurs>d&y night with an expectant audience, many being unable to obtain entrance. This, as one gentleman remarked to me, was the result of tthie much ado of a good, people, who (rightly or wrongly) condemned thie "Girl from Rectors," thus giving it a free advertisement, of which the public were not slow 'to take advantage. A friend who was present on Thursday night assured me that quite a number of Hawera folk were somewhat disappointed with the play. Amoiigsit those present at the Opera House were Mr. and Sirs. Duckworth, Miss" Lysag&t, 'Mr. Pulsford, Mr. and Mrs. and Miss Gormley, Mr. and' Mrs. P. Dear, Miss Gillon, Miss Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie McLean, Mrs. Mitchell, Mis? Glenn, Miss White, Miss Nolan, Mr. Stewart, Mr. and' Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Raine, Miss Stace, Mr. J. North, B.A. .Most'of the ladies were handsomely gowned. ; An entertainment of quite another sort came off in the Presbyterian Hall on Friday evening, namely, a vocal recital, igurv'eii by Mr. Will Hutahens, assisted by Mr. P. Basham (contralto), Mr. M. Oameron ('ba/ritone), Mrs. Raine, Miss.Jeane Young (pianists). Admission tickets were issued free, and the Hall was filled with enthusiastic admirers of the talented young vocalist, who has but lately returned from England, where he has been 'having hia voice trained. Mr. Will Hutchens has a splendid voice, and he sings with great expression, while his enunciation is perfect. . Mr. Cecil Murcfa is laid up with an injured knee, cainsed by an accident with his bike.
