LASCAR LABOUR
DEPUTATION.TO THE PREMIER. By Telegraph.—Press Association; Wellington, Saturday. A deputation of the Federated Seamen's Union of Australia and several members of Parliament waited .on the Premier and Mr/Millar, to-day and asked the Government to deal with the question of foreign cheaply-manned vessels being allowed to compete with the New Zealand mercantile marine. One of the deputation stated that the country was face to face with a black invasion, and urged that visiting vessels should be amenable to New Zealand laws. New Zealand should protect its shores as America did. The Premier said the Government was in complete sympathy with the views of the deputation. What was wanted was legislation to provide an extension of the coast-line so as to include Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. If that could not be obtained, he was prepared to. recommend to his colleagues that legislation be introduced .this session which would protect New Zealand's interests.
TAILORESSES JOIN IN.
