HORSE PARADE.

I The Taranaki Agricultural Society were again favored with fine weather for the annual parade of stallions which eventuated on Saturday. The parade ;.vvas held a week earlier than last year. Consequently some of the horses were not a forward in condition as some breeders desired Eleven horses paraded including thoroughbred, hackney, Clydesdale and pony. The horses were first shown in Egmont street, and afterwards put through their paces in the section opposite the railway station. The proceedings were closely watched by a large number of breeders, and the merits and dements of the various sires came in for candid criticism. THOROUGHBREDS.

Among the thoroughbreds, Bombard I came m for a considerable amount of attention. He is owned by Mr. J. Carson, Oj? Stratford, and though new to this district, is well known in racinw circles, being by Hotchkiss out of Valeit itina. His services w jn be available for owners for the district from New Plymouth to Stratford. Lord Grafton, a brown horse with black points, bred by Messrs. Jas. Thompson and Sons in New South Wales, is another newcomer. He is by the celebrated Grafton, whose success both on the turf and at the-stud is too well known to need repetition. His dam is Fiancee, who is also well known in New Zealand and Australia,

Campfire, the dainty Carbine horse,! was shown in fine fettle. His owner, Mr. 1 Bond, has decided to retain him in this district, and as his stack have created a favorable impression he should be well patronised, HACKNEY. Huon Berlin, owned by Mr. McKenzie, of Waitara, was the only one that parjaded class.. He is by Huon Yet, and is a well prooprtioned horse, dark torowsi in color. He is the possessor of an excellent constitution, and is himself a fine harness horse. He should breed a type of horse eminently suitable for district. CLYDESDALES. Mr. W. Thompson again paraded his Chxksdale stallion Duke of Wellington. The Duke, who is by Glengyle-Kate, is a low set dark bay, very compactly built, with muscular quarters, good shoulders and strong loins. He has plenty of bone, and as very active. He possesses a good constitution, is very quiet, and a staunch worker. Ha will travel this season in Inglewood and surrounding districts. ; Mr. Angus Fraser's Garry Owen attracted the attention of breeders of heavy horse* He is a Clvdesdale of the purest blood, being by Tully Allen from Sweet Lavender. He is a bay horse with splendid bone and plenty of substance. Other horses paraded in this class were Mr. Oldham's Lord Bobs by Lord Rob'erts, and Mr. F. R. Roebuck's Geordie. PONY. Mr. A. T. Moore's Major came in for general admiration. He is a dainty lit-' tie bay with black points, standing '12% hands, very neat in the head, with powerful neck' and shouldensr He is well iribbed up and possesses good bone. He is an excellent mover, and should; be invaluable "to anyone requiring to breed ponies suitable for polo. He was shown in the pink of condition. , -Mr. G. .Sole's Nae Nae, a Shetland pony, by Mosquito—Tiny, also deservedly claimed his share of attention, as did Mrs. Wonthington's Tom Tit.
