"LITTLE DORRIT."
HER ALLEGED DEATH. By Cable—Frew Association—Copyright. London, September 23. The death is reported of Mrs. Hayman, of Sbutihisea, at the age of 81. She was the original of "Little DorMtot."
The above must 'be a mistake. The original of "Little Dorritt," Chas. Dickens' creation, is Mrs. Mary Ann Cooper, ■who is nearly 97 years of age, and was still hale and hearty when the last English mail left 'Mrs. Cooper and Charles Dickens were once sweethearts. As a little girl she lived with her parents in Johnson street, Clarendon Square. On &e opposite side dwelt the Dickens family, and between the future novelist and, little Miss Milton, as she was then called, there grew up a great friendship which lasted many years, and which might have been cemented by marriage had fate so willed.
