SCULLING.
PEARCE Vi WEBB. By Telegraph. —l'resa Association. Wanganui, Friday. The editor of the Referee writes to the editor of the Manawatu Standard to the effect that Pearce and Webb have signed an agreement for a sculling race for a parse of £2OO to bo raised j in Wanganui. The editor of the Standard suggests that it will not now be | necessary for a Palmerston enthusiast to back'Pearce. The truth is that no Jwrse has been raised or is likely to be raised in Wanganui, though plenty of backing can be found for Webb for a stake.
