Mr. Tait, Chief Railway Commissioner, announced his intention to resign in December, The grounds are private and he urges that family reasons necessitate his leaving Australia. The Premier, in announcing the resignation in Parliament, paid a tribute to Mr. Tait's management of the railways, and said it would be a long time before Victoria got a stronger man.
