(■From Our Own Correspondent;) The following amounts were paid out j on Tuesday by the local .factories for, (bonus), £305; Waitui (bonus) £108! Tariki, £240; Upperton, £B7; Mo.i, £875, bonus £1455. <. I have before me the managers report for the Moa Dairy Co. for the. month of August, which shows a most satisfactory stale of affairs. An extract reads: "lte factory and creameries are now in good working order for the ensuing season, and at the present time we are making 35 boxes of butter per day. The building contract at.Waiongona has been completed and passed, the job being a credit to the contractor. I regret to have to say the water work at the creamI ery is not going on so fast, largely owing to broken weather and the difficulty of obtaining good laborers, and it seemsto I me that another month must elapse before skimming can be commenced. I 1 am now able to compare and review the past year's work, and a few figures which I have made out will probably be | useful to you as showing the progress of our business. For the past year there was an increase of 36,1611bs of butter over the previous year. The average test was higher than the past year, being 3 92 The over-run was 15 per cent., while it took only 22.171bs of milk to make each lb. of butter. The payment of wages has been some £SO less than last ■year while the repairs and renewals amount to £l7l, the lowest for the past seven years." Mr. James goes on to say that he attributes the fine results largely to the installation of the combined churn and butter-workers and also to the better order of the separator system. The results, he concludes, exemplify the advantage of up-to-date machinery. Tt«i usual monthly meeting of direct-
ors was held on Monday. The chairman reported on the Dudley road creamery and certain matters in connection with the Kaimata creamery. He also reported having attended the annual meeting of the Taranaki Producers' Freezing Works Co., Ltd, It was resolved that shareholders only be allowed to attend the general meetings of the company. The secretary was .instructed to open an account for the Waiongona creamery. Certain necessary repairs to the manager's residence,. Batapiko, were authorised. The manager was granted an increase of £2O in wages if the output amounts to 400 tons. A sub-committee was appointed to attend to the requirements of the Dudley road and Kaimata creameries as regards-horses. It was resolved to allot shares to the value of £9OO toj the intending suppliers at Waiongona creamery, pro rata on their guaranteed supply. A requisition signed by a large number of shareholders was presented to Mr. D. Herlihy, chairman, asking him to reconsider his decision not to seek re-elec-tion. The annual meeting of the Horticultural Society was held in Messrs Percival and Messenger's offices on Monday evening. The balance-sheet showed a credit on the year's working.
