Mr. Hendry, president of the Manufacturers' Association, declared that he took an unwavering Btand on preference with Great Britaim against reciprocity with the United States. He added: "Those in touch with the situation in Australia assure us that the agitation for preference with Canada is gaining ground there. There is reason to hope the confederation of South Africa would be followed by granting more liberal trade concessions to all portions of the Empire." CANADIAN TRADE. Received September 21, 12.30 a.m. Ottawa, September 21. Canadian trade is booming. Customs for the past ten days increased by £68,000. Savings Bank accounts for August increased by £1,250,000.
