"THE GIRL PROM RECTOR'S." j : The new piece, "The Girl from Rector's," a farcical comedy in four acfcajj adapted from the French by Paul. Mi Potter, the dramatist of "Trilby," will be presented by Hugh J. Ward's company of comedians at the Theatre Royal jOn Friday, for one night only. The English version is bright and "spic" enough to suit the most exacting taste in the way of farcical comedies, with & "fillup" enough. The play is a veritable Chinese puzzle of amazing complications; and widely improbable,' but irresistibly funny, situations. It is alm&st impossible to describe it coherently, because everything and everybody in' it are . incoherent. Nearly - all the characters are leading double livete, and j generally deceiving their spouses and their , sweethearts. Any in . their' spare time are devoted to wriggling' out of the. scrapes and getting into fresh ones. Practically all the characters are'leading dual lives, haying a good time in one place)' wihile their respective ■ spouses and relations 'are under the impression that they are leading strenuous aiid* simple lives in a different part of the globe; The play is one of the most wildly absurd of farcical comedies, and is hilarious throughout. Mr. Hugh J. Ward is supported by the very strongest of companies, and among the number of favorites who will make a welcome ■ reappearance are Miss Grace Palotta, Celia Ghiloni, Maud Chetwynd, Messrs. Reginald Wykeham, Aubrey Mallileau, Robert Craig, H. H. Wallace and others. Special scenery has been painted for the production by Mr. Harry .Whaite, and the ladies of the company are said to be gorgeously gowned.
