DISTRICT NEWS.
WAREA. ('From Our Own Correspondent.) The wind-up of the euchre parties was held in the hall on Wednesday night and took the form of a long night dance. The night was fine, but there was only a fair attendance. Dancing was kepi/ going until the early hours of next morning. Mr. J. D. Knowles supplied the music, and Messrs. R. Julian and W. Thornell acted as M. C.'s. Although the public of Warea do not hear much about the local ladies' sewing guild, they are still carrying on the sewing classes, and intend holding a kind of garden fete during the Christmas holidays. The committee still holds the £SO odd that was collected some time back for the purpose of building a church here, and that money is in the Post Office Savings Bank at Pungarehu, We are living in hopes of seeing an English church built in Warea before many more years have passed. The local team of euchre players that travelled to Okato on Saturday night to play for a dinner were badly beaten. The teams, which consisted of' fifteen men aside, played nine games, Okato winning by 75 games to 60. The return match will be played in our local 'hall on Saturday night. It will be hard luck if we can't get a win in our own hall. The storm which visited us on Sunday last was rather rough while it lasted, but it seemed to clear things up afterwards.
