'f THE GIRL PROM RECTOR'S." Miss Grace Palotta and Mr. Hugh J. Ward have long since established themselves as favorites of local theatregoers, from the excellence of their work and the various pieces in which they ha,vealready appeared. -They appear at. the Theatre Royal on Friday night for one night only, under more favorable auspices than ever. The-company is described as perhaps the strongest ija talent, particularly so as far as ladies are concerned, that has ever appeared in this class of entertainment; for, in;addition to Miss Grace Palotta, the cast of fihe piece to be produced during the season will include Misses Celia Ghiloni and Maud Chetwynd, and other artists who come to us with English reputations. "The Girl from Rector's," which will fee the only production, is said ,to be one-of the finest: farcical comedies yet seen in Australasia. It is a comedy of surprises, played in the fast and furious fashion which is typical of a certain kind of American humor. French in its incep- 1 tion, it retains some traces of its origin in the riskiness of its situations. Mr. Paul M. Potter, the American adapter, 1 lias transformed the play according to his own ideas, and has produced a riot of farcical exaggeration. All things considered, it is a play .to which young people may quite safely take their parents. The box plan is at Collier's.
