RIFLE SHOOTING.
GUARDS' MATCH. The Guards yesterday fired a shooting match at 800, 900, and 1000 yards ranges. A strong left wind was blowing, which prevented any startling scores being made. A feature of the afternoon was the splendid shoot of Private Johnson, who scored 32, 33, and 28, total 93. He has only been shooting a very short time, but with steady practice he has become a first-class shot, which should be an incentive to others to go in for steady practice. The following are the scores:— 800 900 1000 Tl. Pvt. Johnson 32 *33 28 93 Pvt. Nicholls *34 27 30 91 Pvt. Riddles 32 *34 24 90 Pvt .Goodacre 30 23 *3O 85 Hartnell .... *34 25 26 85 Corpl.
