WHITELEY FLOWER SHOW.

A RECORD S^pCESS. The Whiteley Spring Flower Show, which opened yesterday afternoon and is to be open this afternoon and evening, is the most successful sho.v yet held in connection with the Whiteley Memorial Church. A chain of circumstances had ' the effect of making the date of the show a little late, but still a wonderfully good collection of spring liowers was staged, amongst them being some rare blooms, splendidly grown. Mr. Newton King, for instance, has a display that would do credit to any horticultural show anywhere. Included in his display is a monster iris, and other flowers embrace fine cyclamens, cinerarias, violas (a pansy-violet species), and nemesia. Mr. S. W. Shaw is-again to the fore with narcissi of many kinds, all lovely blooms, besides .hyacinths, tulips, nemesia, irises, freesias and many other beautiful blooms.' Mrs. Vickery (Waitara), Mrs. Brash, Messrs. J. H. Gibson, N. Allen and A. T. Moore 'all have blooms on exhibition. There are many fine specimen plants in fehe nursery displays toy the Morshead xVursery Company and 'Messrs. Duncan and Davies, and narcissi are naturally a strong'feature. The committee in charge of the arrangements has afternoon tea and supper rooms in full swing, a shooting gallery and a musical programme for this evening. The competitive classes were good, the floral arrangements being very favorably, commented on. The prize list is as follows: Decorated Mantels (three entries). — Miss Black and Miss W.
