RANGITIKEI RACES. liy Telegraph—Press Association. Marton, Last Night. The weather was line for the opening day of the Rangitikei races at Bulls. The attendance was up to last year's average, and the course slightly holding. XiurU'en bookmakers at £ls 10s were present. The totalisator showed a decrease of £1)10, the amount put through the machine totalling £4368, as against £5184 lor the lirst day of the last spring meeting held at Marton. lleI suits:—

Willowbank Hack Steeplechase.— Whatashot 1, Mahara 2, Castout 3. Scratched: Full Cry, Cloudy Morn. Won easily by five lengths and a half, a length between second and third. Time, omiu 43sec. Pukeliou Hack Hurdles—The Native 1, Mahuta 2, Hawick 3. Scratched: Slecombe, St. Amelia, White Lie, Canadian, Miharo, Castout, Pakau, Chase. Won by three lengths, four lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 52 l-ssec.

Rangitikei Steeplechase. —Nogi 1, Mt. Cook 2, Sir Lethe 3. Scratched: Maku, Sardonyx, Whatashot, Ballance, Golden Glow. Won by twenty lengths. Time Gmin 6 2-ssec.

Gorton. Memorial. —St. Felix 1, Roosevelt 2, Strathmoira 3. Scratched: Lady Medallist, Bourrasque, Repeat. There was a length between the placed horses. Time, lmin 59 4-ssec. Rangitoto Hack Race. —Bunkum 1, Mediterranean 2, Valentine 3. Scratched: Golden Loop, Notorious; Master Sylvia, Prancer, Master Stead, Chase Mab, Kilosteri, Rill, Onepuhi. Won by a length. Time, lmin 32 2-ssec.
