MADE IN NEW ZEALAND.
MANUFACTURERS AND "THE DOG ACT." .
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. • "It would probably ruin my business if I had to brand stuff as .made -in New Zealand," said a member of the Auckland Industrial Association, with reference to the Factories Bill, at a meeting this afternoon. He added: "The prejudice in some lines is very strong, and I know it is. In this particular case, fortunately, I don't come under the Dog Act." Cliotus of members, "The Dog Act!"' "Well," said the speaker, "call it the Factories Act. It is the same thing. In certain businesses the people think they are buying English or imported stuff, and it is necessary that they should think so, if they didn't they wouldn't buy it." Mr. H. Clark stated that his firm would not object to the "Made in New Zealand" brand, though some others did. It was resolved that a circular be addressed to members of the association, drawing their attention to the Factories Bill, and inquiring as to its probable effect on the particular industry of each.
