Bates' summary and forecast: —The barometer has risen everywhere and strong southerly i ..' -winds have prevailed. The weather has improved except in the far south. A southerly gale has prevailed, in Foveaux 1 • Strait, with stormy weather. IPiresent ' indications are for moderate to strqng ■southerly winds northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and westerly winds i : ■ elsewhere, and squally in the far south. The barometer will probably rise slowly everywhere and continue high in the -' north. Cold and changeable weather in the far-south is probable, but the pros- > * jects are for fair weather by day and J , cold nights generally.
