ILLEGAL SALES OF LIQUOR. By Telegraph. —Pres*. Association. Timaru, Tuesday. Mr. Day, S.M., delivered reserved judgment to-day in the case against Mrs. Sarah Mulharn, charged with sel-l ling liquor in the no-license district of Ashburton. Accused was fined £3O and costs. Auckland, Tuesday. At Coromandel, John Miller, charged with having deserted his licensed prem-J ises, the Tererenga Hotel, for a longer period than fourteen days, pleaded guilty and was fined 10s and costs. His license was forfeited, but Mr. Burgess, S.M., stated that a fresh application could be made for a new license for the premises. James Mack, charged with selling liquor without a license from the same hotel, pleaded that he thought the fact of the premises being licensed was sufficient. An conviction was recorded but no fine was imposed.
