DISTRICT NEWS.

j WAREA. I (From Our Own Correspondent.) I The opening of the new school, erected ion the Xewall road, was celebrated by j the holding of a concert and dance. The j function was fairly well attended, although the night was very wet. The | new building is a great improvement on I the old one, it being considerably larger. I Miss 'Cassie is in charge of the school., and started to teach in the new building last week. I understand that Mr. James Duggan, of the Xewall road, has disposed of one of his farms to Messrs. Lucken Bros., of Tataraimaka. The local School Committee decided some time ago to fence off a portion of the playground, and get it dug up. so that the children could go in for gardening. This work has now been started. The wind-up of the euchre party dances will be held on Wednesday night in the form of a long night dance. The farmers of the district are now busy ploughing up turnip ground and sowing it down with grass. Tt will soon be time to start and ploiigb for turnips again. The milk supply at the local factory is increasing very fast now. Over thirteen boxes are being made daily. The Newall Road Creamery is also taking a good supply of milk, and it is expected that there' will be more milk from there this year than ever there has been.
