THAT BULL.

To the Editor. Sir, —It was with some pain I read! your description of the scene caused by the bull. I saw the unfortunate animal trotting up Devon street, molesting no one and turning neither to the right nor the left.' Behind him trailed a long rope, at the end of which was a man who tried to stay the progress of the bull by occasionally throwing his whole weight into a tremendous jerk on the rope. Seeing that this was tied to a ring in the bull's nose, whence blood was flowing, I shuddered at the sight and turned away. It is hard to understand how the intelligent driver expected to soothe the bull or ensure the safety of the public by tying it to a verandah post. Perhaps he hoped for a motor car to come along at any moment and give the bull his quietus.—l am, etc., HUMANITY.
