IN TIME OF WAR.
■FRANCE AND THE NAVIES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received September 13, 12.55 a.m. Paris, September 12. Le Temps, rebutting Admiral Lanessan, states that France's task in the event of war is the defence of the Mediterranean, to prevent the Austrian and Italian navies (which are the left wing of the Triple Alliance) forces breaking through the line from Toulon to Bizerta, while the German fleet (constituting, the right wing) must not be allowed to penetrate the Channel.
