Mr. Baxendanle, London manager of the Pacific Cable Board, says that the Canadian line has considerably improved the accuracy, but the British Post Office declines to sanction deferred rates, on the ground that they were not approved by the International Telegraphic Convention.

A hundred cases of typhoid have occurred here, and two deaths have iesulted from eating raw mussels. CHOLERA IN AUSTRIA. Vienna, September 8. Three cases of Asiatic cholera have occurred here, one being fatal. THE PRINCE OF WALES. London, September 8. It is officially announced that the investiture of the Prince of Wales will take place at Carnarvon Castle in July, 1911.
