MINERS EXONERATED,- (J By Telegraph.—Press Association. " Grcymo'ith, Tuesday. ; A test case brought >y arrangement between the Paparoa mine management and the Miners' Union before the Magistrate yesterday resulted in the miners, whose suspension led to the recent ten days' strike, being exonerated, no proof of negligence in firing the shot by which,the compressed air pipe was damaged being given. Costs were allowed to the Miners' Union. MINERS FINED. ! Greymouth, Last Night. Two miners were charged to-day witll refusing- to work a ji.g in the Paparoa MinS when ordered by the deputy, contrary to Special Rule 33 of the Coal Miners' Act. , The Magistrate, Mr.. h Croose x- #>mincnted adversely on the men's refusal to work the jig without offering a reason. At the company's request a nominal penalty of 10s was in* flicted as a warning. The Magistrate allowed costs (£2 3s 8d) in each case. Both defendants were at Granity when the summonses were served.
